FAQ
What is GhostTunnel?
GhostTunnel provides free IPv6 connectivity over your existing IPv4 connection using SIT (6in4), GRE or WireGuard . It is part of AS209552 — a hobby network run by Jan Siroky in Belgium .
Is the service free?
Yes. Completely free for personal and testing use — no credit card, no contracts, no hidden fees .
Which tunnel types are supported?
We currently support SIT (6in4) and GRE or WireGuard tunnels . Your dashboard generates ready-to-use configuration commands for everyone.
Do I need a public IPv4 address?
Yes. A publicly reachable IPv4 address is required. NAT behind CGNAT will not work .
What IPv6 prefix will I receive?
Each user receives a dedicated ::/64 IPv6 subnet automatically assigned from our address space .
How many tunnels can I create?
Each account can create up to 3 active tunnelsfrom the selection POP UK or NL . This limit exists to keep the service fair for everyone .
Do you support MikroTik, OpenWRT, or pfSense?
Yes. Any system supporting SIT or GRE tunnels is compatible — including MikroTik RouterOS, OpenWrt, pfSense, and most Linux distributions .
Do you provide uptime guarantees?
No. This is a hobby project provided on a best-effort basis with no SLA. We aim for reliability but cannot guarantee it .
Can I configure rDNS/PTR records?
Yes. PTR records for your assigned ::/64 can be managed directly from the dashboard . Changes propagate within minutes .
