What is GhostTunnel?
GhostTunnel provides free IPv6 connectivity over your existing IPv4 connection using SIT or GRE tunnels. It's part of AS209552 ” a hobby network run by Jan Siroky in Belgium.
Is the service free?
Yes. The service is completely free for personal and testing use ” no credit card, no contracts, no hidden fees.
Which tunnel types are supported?
We currently support SIT (6in4) and GRE tunnels. Your dashboard generates ready-to-use configuration commands for both.
Do I need a public IPv4 address?
Yes. A publicly reachable IPv4 address is required for tunnel operation. NAT behind CGNAT will not work.
What IPv6 prefix will I receive?
Each user receives a dedicated /64 IPv6 subnet automatically assigned from our address space.
How many tunnels can I create?
Each account can create up to 3 active tunnel. This limit exists to keep the service fair for everyone.
Do you support MikroTik, OpenWRT, or pfSense?
Yes. Any system supporting SIT or GRE tunnels is compatible ” including MikroTik RouterOS, OpenWrt, pfSense, and most Linux distributions.
Do you provide uptime guarantees?
No. This is a hobby project provided on a best-effort basis with no SLA. We aim for reliability but cannot guarantee it.
Can I configure rDNS/PTR records?
Yes. PTR records for your assigned /64 can be managed directly from the dashboard.
